Chairmans report continued……..
A draft copy of ‘Living with M.E.’ was undertaken by Norma Turner [Administrator] . Following discussions with the Stakeholder group and a few minor alterations the leaflet has been produced. G.P.s surgeries have received copies to hand out to newly diagnosed patients. The system is definitely working as we have already had newly diagnosed sufferers contact the Network after receiving a leaflet from their G.P. A meeting with Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary was held at Police Headquarters on Friday 4th August 2006. This was in relation to the Disability Equality Scheme. [please see separate report on page 6]
So much more could and should be achieved. We thank those members who have been actively raising funds for the network and the response we get from ‘Gift Day’ but we do need others to come on board. Many of the committee members are sufferers so I am sure you will appreciate how hard it is to raise funds. I would like to thank our fund manager Alastair Richards for all his endeavors to raise funding for the Network. Unfortunately due to his busy workload and relocation he is unable to continue with the Network. To date we have been unable to fill his shoes, this is causing a great deal of concern financially. I hope that someone will come forward very soon so that the Network may continue to support and seek better medical and social care for our members and all those whom suffer from ‘Fatigue Illnesses’ I have already taken the liberty of obtaining an application pack from the Big Lottery Fund with a view to applying for sufficient grants to further the work of the Network. |
